Did You Ever Wonder

Yesterday was a sad day in our family, as we said goodbye to the Matriarch of the family. We had a small service at the Antioch Christian Church. It was a nice service, and Don Bader did a good job (other than missing every family name)presenting a clear image of a woman that we all loved. Lena was fantastic, holding together until the last few lines with a heartfelt nail on the head assessment of Mom's relationship with her. Many of the Antioch family attended, as well as Josh from the Nursing Home, Holly's friends Alisa and Grace, and several other friends. Then we said our final good-byes, headed back to our place with the family to visit, catch up with each others lives, and try to ease the sorrow.

We started with a very good lunch, with a side of great conversation (in our family's way)we went through some of the pictures and things that Mom had at the nursing home, watched a few videos, ate and talked some more. Not our traditional get together at all because the Dominoes never surfaced.

So good-bye for now is all we could say. Someday we would all hope to walk the streets of heaven with this woman that we all loved, and will never forget.

Ed,
You have the most wonderful way with writing about feelings. You have expressed all our feelings in these two blogs. Thank you for being such a great guy and brother-in-law and for always being there for Mom and for all of us. We love you and appreciate you.
Love,
Barb
